台湾での新鮮な毎日

初めての台湾
私は今まで台湾に行ったことがありませんでした。台湾で見たものは驚くものばかりで、台湾での毎日がとても新鮮でした。台湾に着いてまず初めに驚いたのは、オートバイがとても多いことです。しかも、２人乗り、３人乗りは当たり前！食べ物も変わった味がするものがたくさんありました。今まで台湾の歴史を考えたことがなかったけれども、「二二八記念館」や「忠烈祠」「中正記念堂」を訪れてから、台湾の歴史に興味を持ちました。
ホームステイ
私のホストファーザーとホストマザーに英語は通じませんでした。そのため、ジェスチャーや表情で気持ちを表現しなければなりませんでした。大変だったけれど、伝わったときはすごく嬉しかったです。意思疎通を図るための方法はたくさんあるんだなあ、と思いました。とても温かく親切な家族でした。これからもメールで関係を保ち続けたいです。
プレゼンテーション
学校に行くと、すごく歓迎をしてくれました。台湾の生徒は日本にすごく興味を持っていて、「日本のことが好きで日本に行きたい」という思いがすごく伝わってきたので、嬉しかったです。プレゼンテーションの準備がどたばたで不安だったけれど、たくさんの人の協力のおかげで頑張れたし、気持ちのこもったプレゼンテーションができました。「プラチナ賞」という結果も残せて良かったです。
反省・まとめ
英語が思ったように使えませんでした。言葉がなくても伝わることがたくさんあったけれど、英語を上手に使えたら、もっともっと自分の思いを伝えられたし、相手のことも受け止めることができたのに、、、と思います。これから英語をたくさん勉強して、世界を広げていきたいです。台湾に行って、ＡＳＥＰに参加して、前よりもっともっと人が好きになりました。これからもたくさんの人と関わっていきたいと思います。そして、この経験をこれからに生かしていきます。ありがとうございました。

Taiwan for the first time
I had never been to Taiwan
before. I was surprised at everything
I saw in Taiwan, so the time I spent there was exciting and stimulating. When I arrived in Taiwan, what surprised
me first was that there were too many motorcycles. Moreover, I often saw two or three
people riding on one motorcycle!
There were also a number of foods that taste strange to me. I have never thought about the history
of Taiwan, but now I am interested in it because I visited “2-28 Memorial Museum,”
“Toen Shrine,” and “Chian Kai-shek Memorial Hall.”
Homestay
My host father and mother couldn’t
understand English. I had to express
my feelings and ideas by gestures or facial expressions. Though it was hard, I was very happy
when my feelings were gotten across to them. I thought there are various ways to
communicate. They were very warm
and exceedingly kind to me. I want
to keep in touch with them.
Presentation and School
I was warmly welcomed in the
school. A lot of Taiwanese students
were very interested in Japan. I
was very glad to hear them say, “I like Japan and I want to go to Japan.” We had limited time to prepare for the
presentation, so I was filled with anxiety. But thanks to many people’s cooperation,
I could do my best and make the presentation with all my heart. What’s more, we could win the Platinum
Prize in the presentation.
Reflection
I couldn’t speak English so well
as I had thought. Truly, there were
many things I could get across without using words, but I also felt, “If I
could use English better, I could express myself more and respond to others
more.” I will study more and more
from now on, and broaden my view of the world. I’ve come to love human beings all the
more because I participated in ASEP in Taiwan. I will make full use of this experience
to build good relations with many people.
